Sewing Tools

I'll share with you the equipment I own and use on a regular (and not so regular!) basis.  I'll also set up a sewing library page as there are some super books out there aimed at the beginner through to high-end couture. It will be a good excuse to dig them all out and re-read them so I can give you my review!

So here we go:

Purchased tools 2010:  Some of these things are only small purchases, but they've been on my "must buy" list for a long, long time!
Bamboo point turner
Point Press and clapper in one (I'm getting geared up for tackling tailoring next year!)
Wrist pincushion from www.susankhalje.com  $25 +P&P but I've wanted one for years!
Subscription to Threads Magazine
Palmer and Pletch "Fit for Real People" book / DVD
Full Bust Adjustment DVD
Quilters gridded ruler
Maderia Thread Treasure Chest

Purchased Tools 2011
90cm x 60cm self-healing cutting mat

What I Currently Own:

Sewing Machine - Used Every Day:  Janome 6600P approx 2 years old.  Love, love, love it.

Sewing/ Embroidery Machine - Never used these days, but can't bear to part with:  Brother Super Galaxy (one of the early sewing machines with an embroidery unit attachment) - my hands shook as I wrote the cheque out for it! Approx 15 (gulp!) years old

Overlocker - Brother (?) Really good, solid, metal machine.  3/4 thread. Approx 20 (bigger gulp!) years old

"So old I couldn't find a picture on t'internet.  I had to take one!"

Embroidery Machine - Janome 200e.  Bought this 1 year ago and should have got the 350e instead.  I didn't really know what I was buying at the time, but got such a good deal on it and it has a beautiful stitch quality, I'm happy to stick with it for another year or so.  It's hoop is limited to 140x140 and sometimes I want to embroider bigger pieces.
You all now know about Betty Bernina!

I've just ordered the Madiera Treasure Chest from Jaycotts (Sunday 28th November) and am VERY excited about delivery - I have so many designs I'd like to stitch out but never have the right (or near) colour.
It will be interesting how long it will take to arrive.  PS  It took 2 days to arrive, despite the snow!

What I Covert:
Janome Horizon:  Loads of pre-set embroidery stitches which are great for decorating book covers etc, and corset casings.  I had a test drive in June and fell for it hook line and sinker.....I can't justify trading in the 6600P at the moment, and at £1795 my pockets aren't deep enough....

Janome 350e - as mentioned above. I think they are about £1000 at the moment
I really like the look of the Topaz 30 by Husquvana.  Although I'm not keen on sewing/embroidery machines in one, this one offers a HUGE embroidery area that I know I would enjoy using . Approx £2,000

Who said sewing was a cheap hobby?!?!
